Hi, I noticed that you want to move the page I created: Ancient's Healing Device (Stargate). After reading your comments, I think you are right and agree. The only problem, is that sevral pages already redirect to it. There might be double redirects. Just something to watch out for. If you need help with anything, just ask. Tobyk777 04:18, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

After reading your and that other guy's comments on its talk page, I reread what I wrote and. The article is not about technology in general. It's about this specific device. This is about a piticular gadget. This article isn't about their supernatural abilities. It's about the device. Their abilities should probably go on their main page. I just moved it and fixed all double redirects. So I saved you the trouble. I also posted this comment on its talk page. Tobyk777 00:42, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Minor edits

Edits like the one you did recently on the Farscape article([1]) should probably be flagged as minor, as it's just a grammar issue. That way we know that it's just something grammatical. Smeggysmeg 02:13, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sakshama

please unprotect the page Sakshama, when wikipedia is having articles for techfest, techniche and other technical fetivals. then why not a article for sakshama, a technical festival which was started from a small town of india in the year 2007 and now it is going to celebrate it's third version and it has been said as no #1 technical festival of north india. so i want to write a page for it please unprotect it. you can find more at http://sakshama.org or you can find the same communities on orkut and other social web Aashish K Mahaswary (talk) 15:47, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob still has his article

I posted this in the talk page after your comment, but I wanted you to know that the Jacob Carter article still exists. Lady Aleena 21:23, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stargate

It looked like you removed a fair bit of content and without an edit summary, well, I'm sure you can realize what happened. The template is basically automatic for me. Sorry if you took offense Tawker 04:33, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DNA Resequecner

Hi, on the wikiproject Stargate page you wrote that Stargate SG-1 is under peer review. It isn't. The only two articles under review are Stargate (device) and DNA Resequencer (Stargate).

I would have to say that the organization and quality of the DNA article is very good, as good as many FAs. While yes, your point is valid that is not of general interest, look what article appeared on the main page today. If that can be featured DNA resequencer can. As I stated above it is currently under peer review. Do you really think it's not good enough to become an FA? I think it is, it's one of the most comprehensive articles, and probably the largest source on the topic in existance. Why do you think it isn't worthy. Mabe I could fix it? Tobyk777 05:50, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling

I noticed that you have been criticizing my spelling recently. I just wanted you to know that I am a horrible speller and I admit it. There is no need for more criticsm. I spell as well as i can. Too bad there is no spell check on WP. Tobyk777 00:02, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 64.88.86.3.

64.88.86.3. is the address of youth services (read: teenager) computers at the Troy, Michigan Public Library. In other words, the vandalism probably won't occur again. Lockesdonkey 22:47, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

This address is used by ALL schools in Macomb county and all public libraries (or at least most) in Macomb county, which is 1,000's of computers.

Hi, I am trying to add pictures to DNA Resequencer as you sugested. The only fair use pic I have found so far is This one

[edit] Your statement of opinion on Templates-for-deletion

Your statement on Templates-for-deletion related to the deletion of the religion-related userboxes was a very positive statement about Wikipedia and contributors to it. Thank you; I liked what you said. User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 22:53, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Political interps of the Wizard of Oz

  • Sorry -- that kind of thing looks like vandalism, and since you didn't cite your source (and it came from an IP address), I just assumed it was in fact vandalism. It would help if you did cite the source. You might also consider just adding it to the talk page, though I think citing the source would make it work fine, though it's up to you. Hope this helps. I'll remove the warning from that IP address. Sorry for that! ~~ Meeples 03:18, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Seal of the United States Senate

There's been some back and forth edits on what graphic should be used as the Seal of the United States Senate in the United States Senate article. In order to resolve the disagreement, I'm trying to start some discussion on the issue on the article's talk page. Since you're one of the editors that has edited the Senate article in regards to the Seal graphic, I thought I'd let you know about the discussion in case you want to weigh in. Thanks. - Walkiped (T | C) 06:53, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit]  ???

I did not revert that change. Why are you talking to me? Will (Talk - contribs) 00:24, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

I think I now understand what happened. The diff you provided didn't have an edit summary. So you forced me to rely on the diff to decide which edit was vandalism and which wasn't. Martha Stewart has been one of the most vandalized pages today. I probably misread the diff I saw (using popups by Lupin, both the before and after parts get merged into one column). My apologies.

Hello Lockesdonkey, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Truthiness2.JPG) was found at the following location: User:Lockesdonkey. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 04:43, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please use edit summaries

Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be very low:

Edit summary usage for Lockesdonkey: 11% for major edits and 32% for minor edits. Based on the last 150 major and 22 minor edits in the article namespace.

Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 15:14, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Parliamentary Chamber infobox

I see a disagreement between CJ and Lockesdonkey about creation of a new infobox in the Australian Senate article. I thought the infobox was quite a good assembly of information dispersed throughout the article (some of it not easily found). I note Lockesdonkey's observation that these are used in other legislature pages, though the format is not always standard (compare Bundestag with Scottish Parliament for example). Unless WP has a policy that an infobox should not duplicate information in an article in any way (in which case, there seem to be a lot of info boxes that need removing!), i would favour its retention. I am posting this to both user pages, reverting the removal of the box for now, and await discussion at the Senate talkpage. hamiltonstone 23:26, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images in the userspace

I have removed the image Image:Beatles - Abbey Road.jpg from your userspace User:Lockesdonkey/Userboxes/ComeTogether. Please be aware that images that are clamied as fair use have a restriction in location:

From the policy page Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria
9. Restrictions on location. Non-free content is allowed only in articles (not disambiguation pages), and only in article namespace, subject to exemptions. (To prevent an image category from displaying thumbnails, add __NOGALLERY__ to it; images are linked, not inlined, from talk pages when they are a topic of discussion.)

Placing non-free images in the userspace like you did on User:Lockesdonkey/Userboxes/ComeTogether is a violation and has been removed. Please do not restore this image without consultation. Thank you. — Κaiba 17:04, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. Thanks for your recent addition to Corned beef. It's an interesting anecdote, but one that really needs to be sourced - as it is it falls under the heading of original research. [edit] Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life

I am leaving you this note because you have edited this article in the past. While vandal-watching today I noticed the removal by CaseyHamMD (talk · contribs) of the entire "Criticism" section. This looked to me like common vandalism, so I reverted it with the rollback tool. Checking the article history, I saw that rollback had reverted a string of 12 edits and, checking them, it was clearly not a case of simple vandalism: on the other hand, the edits showed a pattern of removing properly-sourced criticism and inserting favourable opinions which suggested that CaseyHamMD had a COI and was not editing from a NPOV. He had made one earlier edit of a similar type, which I have also reverted.

He is a new editor, first edit 24 Sep, and his talk page was blank. I have given him a standard welcome paragraph and a note explaining what I have done, outlining relevant WP policies, and inviting him if he wants his changes made to outline them on the article talk page and try to reach consensus.

As I personally know nothing about the subject, I am posting this note to editors who have worked on the article and seem to be still active, so that they can take part in the discussion and/or watch the article.

[edit] Election infobox

The fact that the infobox is being misused elsewhere does not make it ok to put it on the Israeli article. It's managed to exist just fine without it for a few months, so I don't see the need to add it. The election is hugely unpredictable - undecided voters are probably at their highest ever, and, as shown at the last elections, polls can be a long way (5+ seats) out, which means that in theory any of the top 4 could win, and any of the next batch could come fifth.

More generally, I do not believe that the infobox is a good thing - I've noted as such on its talk page a couple of times. Unless someone can devise one capable of containing numerous (15-20) parties in manageable format, they are nothing but POV violations. пﮟოьεԻ 57 16:23, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

I beg to disagree, infobox is to show a graphical representation of the elections and it does not show a POV violation plus it shows the parties who could actually win the elections or in the case of Israel, form the government. Rizalninoynapoleon (talk) 05:44, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Kucinich: Mayorship versus Mayoralty

I was going to get all snippy about why you changed Mayorship to Mayoralty. I looked up several places and found Mayorship to be a perfectly acceptable word. It wasn't until I looked at this page with definitions that I found that mayorship just means the office of the mayor while mayoralty may also mean the the term of office of Mayor which was the intent in the article. I defer to your wisdom. Good catch!--Ccady (talk) 20:30, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Terraced houses

Hi Locky, I note the heading you have put on the page. Terraced housing (single houses built in the 19th and early 20th century in rows with common walls) has been a predominantly British, North American and Australian style but, as you rightly point out, despit the fact that this style originated in Britain during the industrial revolution, there are probably examples from outside the English speaking world. Because this style of housing development was often adopted as a method of cheaply housing huge numbers of industrial workers we also see large numbers of these houses in areas such as the Netherlands, Northern France and Belgium. I would love to see examples on the Terraced House page as well and have invited comments on the talk page.

In most other areas of the planet, the preferred solution to mass housing was the development of multi storey apartments (Germany, Itay, Spain, most Asian Nations) and this was often a result of different legislation in the comminity. A great example is Scotland. Even though Scotland has been part of the United kingdom since the seventeenth century they have maintained their own body of legislation. Unlike England, in Scotland it was possible to own a 'slice of air' such as an apartment three storeys off the ground. In the nineteenth century this enabled the building of huge numbers of very solid tenement apartments, which never occurred in England. As a result you won't find terraced houses in Scotland to the same degree as in England.

In the USA there were also local differences in planning legislation so that, for example Baltimore and Philadelphia are just about wall to wall row houses, yet Chicago in the same period built mostly detached dwellings although very close together.

I would certainly welcome including other language group terraced houses if we can get some contribiutions from non English comminities. Any thoughts on this?

Cheers'

[edit] Dennis Kucinich

Regarding your edit to the Dennis Kucinich page, thanks for fixing the grammar, but please remember to assume good faith. Your comment for the edit summery ("Use good English!") came off as a bit harsh, and it seemed to be a simple mistake on the other users part. Coolgamer (talk) 14:12, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Nuclear prog of Saudia Arabia

Hi, re: your addition "more vocal opponents of nuclear weapons in the Middle East". Do you have a reliable source that states that or something along those lines ? Perhaps it's in the existing refs, I haven't looked. The statement needs to come from an RS as per WP:V or else I guess we need to remove it to avoid WP having an editorial opinion (see WP:OPED). Sean.hoyland - talk 04:03, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I think it is interpretation in the sense that it is WP placing Saudia Arabia somewhere on an implied for or against continuous scale, it kind of implies a contrast with other states and it's not supported by an RS right now (despite probably being true). Saying something straightforward like "opposes" might be simpler and is supported by our refs. Anyway, it's your decision. I don't mind either way. :) Sean.hoyland - talk 05:02, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
