[edit] About me

I am MuZemike. I hail from the great state of Wisconsin and hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have been editing on Wikipedia since May 31, 2008 and have over 15,000 edits in my name (according to "My preferences"). While I don't really focus on math-related articles on Wikipedia, I do focus on a subject that has encompassed around 25 or so years of my life – video gaming. I can also be found from time to time at Wikimedia Commons or at Wikiquote. I can also be found on the #wikipedia #wikipedia-en IRC channels under the same username for anything more immediate or just to have a nice banter.

I generally self-identify as a precisionist as far as mainspace philosophy is concerned, and I do some work in merging articles to make better quality articles. I also believe in following the steps in WP:BEFORE before going the deletion route with articles as well as proposing articles for deletion before I go to WP:AFD. I think if everyone followed these steps, there would be far fewer AFD discussions as all the homework is already done and properly. I also perform non-admin closures on some AFD discussions, including those that clearly fall under the speedy keep guideline and closures in which an admin has already deleted the article.

As noted below, I also regularly patrol new pages, normally from the back of the log and with NewPageWatcher. However, I also patrol the front for obvious speedy deletions and clear username violations. I am also currently learning how to use AutoWikiBrowser. Maybe someday I will develop and run a bot, as I do have working knowledge of Java and C++.

I have also started reviewing Good Article nominations. The link on top of the page documents all the articles I have reviewed.

[edit] Quotes

...people let their opinion be formed by wether [sic] it fits their left/right wing status, rather than by facts. Because they understandably can't understand them. But then they shouldn't have an opinion. And maybe that's the major problem, that people think they should have an opinion about everything. And possibly that's a negative side-effect of democracy. But then that's a dangerous thing to say because less subtle people might not understand the subtlety that even the best option always has its flaws.

—Some Wikipedian I cannot remember

People who loudly accuse the community of some vice are almost invariably guilty of, but blind to, some variant of that vice themselves.
