Thommayanti

Thommayanti (Thai: ทมยันตี, also Tamayanti) is the pen name of Khun Ying Wimol Siripaiboon (Thai: คุณหญิงวิมล ศิริไพบูลย์ ), born July 10, 1937, a Thai novelist, legislator and senator.

Among her works is the historical fantasy romance novel, Tawipob, about a woman who time travels from the 20th century to Rama V-era Siam. The story was first adapted as a film by Cherd Songsri in 1990, and has since been adapted into a stage play, a musical, a television series and a 2004 film (Siam Renaissance).

Another of Thommayanti's works is Koo Kam, about the romance of a Thai woman and a Japanese soldier during World War II in Thailand. It has been adapted into a film Sunset at Chaophraya, a stage musical and a television series. Another of her famous works is Dang Duang Haruethai.

Wimol was granted the royal title Khun Ying in 2005.^[1]

Following the coup d'état in the 6 October 1976 Massacre, she was appointed by the junta as a legislator and member of the National Reform Council. She has also been elected as a senator in 1979.^[2]
