Sauvo (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈsɑuʋo]; Swedish: Sagu) is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Finland Proper region. The municipality has a population of 3,027 (31 March 2009)[2] and covers an area of 299.75 square kilometres (115.73 sq mi) of which 47.22 km2 (18.23 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 11.99 inhabitants per square kilometre (31.1 /sq mi).
Like many waterside areas near major population centres, the population of Sauvo increases every summer because of summer cottage usage. While not counted officially to statistics the increase will roughly double the population during summer. In Sauvo is stone church from 15th century and many manor houses.
The municipality Karuna was merged into Sauvo in 1969.
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
