[edit] Club career
Hunt was born in Westhoughton, Greater Manchester. As a boy played Football for Hindley Tigers and attended Hesketh Fletcher High school.
A Bolton supporter since his schooldays, Hunt achieved his dream of becoming a professional footballer when he made his debut for his favourite club as a substitute for Colin Hendry in the First Division match against Sheffield United on the final day of the 2000–01 season, shortly before Bolton won promotion to the Premier League.
He had to wait some time for further first team opportunities, only playing in two FA Cup ties (against Sunderland in January 2003) before making his breakthrough at the start of the 2003–04 season when he became a key part of the defence and a first-team regular for Bolton. His Premier League début came in the 4–0 defeat at Manchester United on 16 August 2003. He has now made over a century of appearances for the club, scoring one goal.
On 30 August 2007, Hunt signed a new four year contract with Bolton, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2010–11 season.
On 3 November 2008, Hunt signed for Championship side Birmingham City on an emergency one-month loan deal as cover for the injured Stuart Parnaby and Stephen Kelly.[1] He made his debut for the Blues the same night in the 1-0 defeat to Coventry City at St Andrew's.[2] The loan was later extended for a further month.[3] On 30 December 2008, a 24-hour recall clause in the loan agreement was invoked and the player returned to Bolton.[4]
[edit] International career
Hunt won ten England U21 caps, the first in February 2004 against the Netherlands.
