Moronvilliers

In 1911, the small village of Moronvilliers had 86 inhabitants.

On 2 September 1914, the village, only 15 kilometers north-east from Rheims, was occupied by German troops that had captured the area during World War I. After this incident, the village was deserted and destroyed during the war. Although it was never rebuilt, from 1950 Moronvilliers has shared its territory with Pontfaverger as the new village, Pontfaverger-Moronvilliers.

The town of Moronvilliers has been the site of simulated nuclear testing or "cold firings" in the past, which caused many issues with both the general public and foreign observers.
