Memellanders
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Memellanders (German: Memelländer; Lithuanian: Memelenderiai or Klaipėdiškiai) are the native people of the former Memel territory. The first time the ethnonym appeared was during the years between the First and Second world wars. Those declaring themselves Memellanders constituted 24.2% and 22.9% of the population in the Memel Territory in 1925 and 1939 respectively. The ethnicity of Memelanders may be described as a mix of ethnic Germans and Prussian Lithuanians.
