Krasnoznamensk (Russian: Краснознаменск; German: Lasdehnen or Haselberg; Lithuanian: Lazdynai; Polish: Łazdyny) is a town in Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, located on the Šešupė River. It is the administrative center of Krasnoznamensky District of Kaliningrad Oblast. Population: 3,751 (2002 Census);[1] 3,894 (1989 Census).[2] Lithuanians make up a significant portion of the population. Lithuanian cultural organisations exist in the town, which is in the ethnographic region known as Lithuania Minor.[1]

Prior to World War II the town was part of the Prussian Province of East Prussia, within Germany. Until 1938 its German name was Lasdehnen, but as it was of Baltic Old Prussian origin, the Nazi government changed it to Haselberg ("Hazel Mountain") in 1938. After World War II ended in 1945, the area was annexed by the Soviet Union and the town was renamed Krasnoznamensk ("Red Banner Town").
