John Nicholaas "Johnny" Rep (born 25 November 1951 in Zaandam, Noord-Holland) is a former Dutch football striker. He currently holds the all time record for FIFA World Cup goals for the Netherlands with 7. He admitted to making a 'schalbe' i.e. diving to fool the referee, when the Netherlands were awarded a penalty against Scotland in the group game between the two countries at the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.
[edit] Playing career
He played as a right-sided forward in the Dutch World Cup teams of 1974 (West Germany) and 1978 (Argentina). Rep scored the winning goal for Ajax Amsterdam against Juventus in the 1973 European Cup final in Belgrade. He also helped SC Bastia reach the finals of the 1978 UEFA Cup.
[edit] Trivia
Rep is included in the 'Classic Netherlands' team in Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 under the name of 'Rak'.
