[edit] Playing career
[edit] Sheffield United
Ross started his career as a trainee with Sheffield United . His Blades career was limited to just two League Cup games, the first of which was against Boston United in which he scored the winning goal.[1] He had loan spells with Boston[2] and Bury[3] during the 2005-06 season. Whilst at Boston he was named League Two's Player of the Month for October.[4]
In July 2006, he joined Notts County on a six-month loan deal[5] which saw him play 31 games and score 1 goal. After returning to Bramall Lane in January, the two clubs agreed a new loan deal until the end of the season.[6]
[edit] Rotherham United
On 7 November 2007 he signed a loan deal at League Two side Rotherham United[7], he then joined permanently until the end of the season in January.[8]
Ross was released after his short-team deal at the Millers expired, along with 5 other players.
[edit] Non League
Ian signed for Gainsborough Trinity, after a decent trial period in which he scored in the last minute 2-1 win over Chesterfield on 19/07/08. On 20th March 2009 Ian was signed by Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law.[9]
